Rusk is a town located in Burnett County, Wisconsin. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 420.

Geography


According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 89.9 km² (34.7 mi²). 84.5 km² (32.6 mi²) of it is land and 5.4 km² (2.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 5.99% water.

Demographics


As of the census of 2000, there are 420 people, 162 households, and 123 families residing in the town. The population density is 5.0/km² (12.9/mi²). There are 338 housing units at an average density of 4.0/km² (10.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 96.90% White, 0.00% African American, 2.38% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.48% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.24% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 162 households out of which 24.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 64.8% are married couples living together, 5.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 23.5% are non-families. 18.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.49 and the average family size is 2.80. In the town the population is spread out with 21.9% under the age of 18, 5.7% from 18 to 24, 23.6% from 25 to 44, 32.9% from 45 to 64, and 16.0% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 44 years. For every 100 females there are 100.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 103.7 males. The median income for a household in the town is $33,750, and the median income for a family is $40,341. Males have a median income of $27,500 versus $24,688 for females. The per capita income for the town is $15,368. 8.3% of the population and 7.3% of families are below the poverty line. Geography


According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 92.9 km² (35.9 mi²). 86.8 km² (33.5 mi²) of it is land and 6.1 km² (2.3 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 6.53% water.

Demographics


As of the census of 2000, there are 475 people, 204 households, and 150 families residing in the town. The population density is 5.5/km² (14.2/mi²). There are 435 housing units at an average density of 5.0/km² (13.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 98.95% White, 0.00% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.21% from other races, and 0.84% from two or more races. 1.47% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 204 households out of which 22.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 65.7% are married couples living together, 4.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 26.0% are non-families. 22.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 9.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.33 and the average family size is 2.72. In the town the population is spread out with 20.8% under the age of 18, 3.4% from 18 to 24, 22.5% from 25 to 44, 34.3% from 45 to 64, and 18.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 47 years. For every 100 females there are 111.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 111.2 males. The median income for a household in the town is $29,904, and the median income for a family is $33,000. Males have a median income of $26,250 versus $25,221 for females. The per capita income for the town is $16,117. 11.5% of the population and 7.8% of families are below the poverty line. Rusk is a city located in Cherokee County, Texas. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 5,085. It is the county seat of Cherokee County6.

Geography


Rusk is located at 31°47'54" North, 95°8'60" West (31.798254, -95.149865)1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 17.7 km² (6.8 mi²). 17.7 km² (6.8 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.29% water.

Demographics


As of the census of 2000, there are 5,085 people, 1,306 households, and 867 families residing in the city. The population density is 287.9/km² (745.4/mi²). There are 1,539 housing units at an average density of 87.1/km² (225.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 62.71% White, 30.01% African American, 0.18% Native American, 0.96% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 5.15% from other races, and 0.98% from two or more races. 6.92% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 1,306 households out of which 32.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 45.6% are married couples living together, 17.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 33.6% are non-families. 30.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 16.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.44 and the average family size is 3.05. In the city the population is spread out with 17.3% under the age of 18, 8.9% from 18 to 24, 39.3% from 25 to 44, 20.6% from 45 to 64, and 13.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 38 years. For every 100 females there are 154.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 168.4 males. The median income for a household in the city is $27,370, and the median income for a family is $33,952. Males have a median income of $24,271 versus $22,438 for females. The per capita income for the city is $11,688. 21.5% of the population and 16.2% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 29.4% are under the age of 18 and 21.0% are 65 or older.
