RING-SHAPED OCCURRENCES

Specialty Definition: RING-SHAPED OCCURRENCES

DomainDefinition

Mining

In some areas altered rock has been found as a halo over an orebody and thus serves as a geologic target for guiding prospecting operations. The ratio between the size of the ring and the orebody must not be too large for practical purposes. Such target rings are not always obvious and will only be recognized after much painstaking work and study. Also calledbulls-eye alteration patterns. (references)
