Sorceress (Spyro character) The Sorceress is a character from the Spyro the Dragon series. The Sorceress is the main villain in Spyro: Year of the Dragon. She is a blue dinosaur creature with a wand containing a dragon egg. In the beginning of the game, her apprentice Bianca steals 150 dragon eggs from the dragons on the other side of the world. The only dragon that can get through her rabbit tunnel is Spyro. Spyro has to battle the Sorceress for the dragon eggs. Sparx the Dragonfly, Hunter the Cheetah, Sheila the Kangaroo, Sgt. Byrd, Bentley the Yeti, and Agent 9 assist him. During this time, Bianca falls in love with Hunter and becomes a valuable ally against the Sorceress, though her former queen is very powerful. According to the game, the Sorceress is thousands of years old and knows all the magical spells in the world. She relies on magic to keep her alive and when she banished the dragons from her side of the world 1,000 years ago, the magic started to fade. Now it's almost gone and she plans to use the dragon eggs to restore the fading magic to her realm. She would then kill all the dragons, and use their wings to cast a spell that will keep her alive forever. Before she could to this, however, Spyro stops her from using the eggs and fought her until she was finally defeated. The Sorceress ruled half the world until she was dethroned. (references)

Sword and Sorceress series The Sword and Sorceress series is a series of fantasy anthologies edited by Marion Zimmer Bradley. As she explained in the foreword to the first volume, she created the anthology to redress the lack of strong female protagonists in the sub-genre of sword and sorcery. At the time, most female characters in sword and sorcery were little more than stock damsels in distress, or pawns who were distributed at the conclusion of the story as "bad-conduct prizes" (MZB's term) for the male protagonists. Many of the early sword-and-sorcery works featured attitudes toward women that Bradley considered appalling. (references)
The Sorceress of Castle Grayskull The Sorceress of Castle Grayskull is a fictional character from Filmation's He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. She is the mistress and guardian of the secrets of Castle Grayskull, the source of He-Man's great power. She is the mother of Teela, childhood friend of Prince Adam and Captain of the Royal Guard. The current Sorceress' real name is Teela'Na. Her history was revealed in the episode The Origin of the Sorceress. In this episode, Morgoth (an old nemesis of the Sorceress) returns and attacks Eternia. On a journey, the Sorceress tells He-Man of how she became the Sorceress. (references)
