A long suit in Sheepshead is where you have 2 or more cards of the same (non-trump) suit. These suits include hearts, spades, and clubs. Here is a list of cards part of the non-trump suit:
Ace Ten King Nine Eight Seven
Notice that there are only 6 cards. If you have 2 (or more) of them, the chances that every other player having the same suit is rather minimal (or impossible if you are playing 5 hand and you have 3 cards of one suit).
In other words, let's say you have the Ace, 8 and 7 of hearts. If you lead out the hearts suit, you should expect that someone is going to trump it. (There are only 3 hearts left, and 4 players!) Unless you know otherwise, you generally wouldn't lead the ace or ten if you have a long suit. Lead out a smaller card and save that Ace to smear it later. (And chances are, on a long suit, that that Ace WILL become schmear for someone..)

The Long Parliament is the name of the English Parliament called by Charles I, in 1640, following the Bishops' wars. It receives its name from the fact that it sat almost continuously during the English Civil War until 1660. The sole reason Charles reassembled Parliament was to ask it to pass finance bills, since the Bishops' Wars had bankrupted him.The Parliament was initially led by John Pym. In August 1641, it enacted legislation depriving Charles of the powers that he had assumed since his accession. The reforms were designed to rule out Charles ruling absolutely again. The parliament also freed those imprisoned by the Star Chamber. A Triennial Act was passed, requiring that no more than three years should elapse between sessions of Parliament.
The Long Parliament was also responsible for the impeachment and subsequent execution of the king's advisers, Archbishop William Laud and Thomas Wentworth, Earl of Strafford. Without its royalist members, the Long Parliament continued to sit during the Civil War. This was because its dissolution was only possible with its own consent.
Divisions emerged between various factions, culminating in Pride's Purge (1648), when, under the orders of Oliver Cromwell, Colonel Pride physically barred a Presbyterian majority of Parliament from taking their seats. In the wake of the ejections, the remnant, the Rump Parliament, arranged for the trial and execution of Charles I. It was also responsible for the setting up of the Commonwealth of England (1649).
Oliver Cromwell forcibly disbanded the Rump Parliament in 1653 when it seemed they might disband his expensive army (50,000 men). It was recalled after his son, Richard Cromwell's, dismal failure as Lord Protector in 1659. The following year General George Monck reinstated the members 'secluded' by Pride. The Convention Parliament was prepared for, and the Long Parliament dissolved in March 16, 1660..

The long or medial s (ſ) is a form of the minuscule letter s that was formerly used when the s occurred within or at the beginning of the word, for example ſinfulneſs ("sinfulness"). The modern letterform was called the terminal or short s.The medial s was subject to confusion with the minuscule f, sometimes even having an f-like nub appended to its middle. The practice later died out in Roman and Italic faces by the end of the 19th century. It survived longer in the German Fraktur; the modern German letter ß (ess-tsett) is a ligature representing ſs, a fact more obvious in some typefaces than in others.
The medial s is represented in Unicode by the hexadecimal value 17F, and may be represented in HTML as
ſ.The confusion between the medial s and f has been the subject of some intentional humour, much of it involving phrases like "sucking pig", and forms the basis of Benny Hill's song "Fad-Eyed Fal" (i.e., Sad-Eyed Sal)

Longitude, denoted λ, describes the location of a place on Earth east or west of a north-south line called the prime meridian. Longitude is given in an angular measurement ranging from 0° at the Prime Meridian to plus or minus 180°. Unlike latitude which has the equator as a natural starting position, there is no natural starting position for longitude. Therefore a reference meridian had to be chosen. While British cartographers had long used the Greenwich meridian in London, England, other references were used elsewhere, among others Rome, Copenhagen, Jerusalem, Saint Petersburg, Pisa, Paris and Philadelphia. In 1884, the International Meridian Conference adopted the Greenwich meridian as the universal prime meridian.
Longitude may be determined by calcuating the time difference between the location a person is in and Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). Since there are 24 hours in a day and 360 degrees in a circle, the sun moves 15 degrees per hour (360°/24 hours = 15° per hour). So if the time zone a person is in is three hours ahead of UTC then that person is at 45° longitude (3 hours × 15° per hour = 45°). In order to perform this calculation, however, a person needs to have a chronometer (watch) set to UTC and needs to determine local time by solar observation or astronomical observation. The details are more complex than described here: see the article on Universal Time for more details.
A line of constant longitude is a meridian, and half of a great circle.
This measurement is important to navigation; the discovery of how to measure it accurately was one of the more important discoveries of the 1700s. See Dava Sobel's book: The True Story of a Lone Genius Who Solved the Greatest Scientific Problem of His Time for a good historical overview. This genius was John Harrison who eventually received the Longitude Prize.

Mice were injected with mouse sarcoma cells amd treated 3 days later when many micro-metastatic tumor foci were evident in the lungs. Lungs on the left were treated with saline. The lungs on the right were treated with lymphokine activated killer (LAK) cells plus recombinant interleukin-2. Greater than 250 sarcoma metastases are seen in the lungs of saline treated mice. This number is significantly reduced to less than 12 in mice receiving LAK cells plus recombinant interleukin-2. Normal mouse lung is 1 inch long.
