Pacing mode that incorporates sensing on the ventricular channel and where the pacemaker output is inhibited by a sensed ventricular event. VVI pacemakers are refractory for a period after a paced or sensed ventricular event known as the ventricular refractory period. Any ventricular event occurring within the ventricular refractory period is not sensed and does not reset the ventricular timer [VE1]. Source: European Union. (references)
