In acoustics, for a specified signal, the minimum sound pressure level at the entrance to the external auditory canal which, in a specified fraction of the trials, will stimulate the ear to a point at which there is a sensation of feeling that is different from the sensation of hearing. Also called tickle. (references)

Medicine

Minimum effective sound pressure of a specified pure tone which gives a sensation of feeling in the ear. Averages about 120 to 130 decibels sound pressure level at most frequencies for normal subjects. Source: European Union. (references)
