Slang | Noun. Source: The Co-op is a shortened version of The Babysitting Co-op. Definition: The Babysitting Co-op, or Co-op, is a way for the mothers of young children in the Misty Meadows neighborhood to interact socially while at the same time providing a means of sharing the burden of child care. The Co-op has regular meetings and instead of money, the mothers exchange tickets which are then good for another Co-op sit with any other Co-op member. The Co-op is not particularily exclusive, meaning that any person with young children and having an interest in the group is invited to be a participating member of The Co-op. Context: One would only say Co-op in the casual setting of conversing with a fellow Co-op member.
