(From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia)
The stamen is the male part of a flower. Most flowers have six stamens inside a perianth (the petals and sepals together). Each stamen consists of a thin stalk called a filament supporting an anther, which produces haploid pollen, essentially sperm cells of a flowering plant.
