Slide is an open-source content management system from the Jakarta project. It is written in Java and implements the WebDAV protocol.Slide provides a hierarchical organization of storing data. Content is stored within a Domain which includes one or more Namespaces. Each namespace is identified by a Uniform Resource Identifier (URI). A namespace contains one or more Stores of information, e.g., a database or a directory tree. A Service is associated with each store and manages the connection to that store. A store contains one or more Scopes.
Slide can be used with multiple data sources requiring only small abstraction layers to be written for each repository.
Part of content management includes support for security, locking and versioning.
The Slide engine is implemented as a JMX Managed Bean (MBean). WebDAV is implemented by the WebDAV servlet which can plugged into Jakarta Tomcat. It handles the WebDAV methods - propfind, proppatch, etc., and invokes the engine to act on them. Slide also provides a set of APIs to implement the WebDAV client, because of which Slide can also be seen as a Content Management Framework.
The use of WebDAV, which is a superset of HTTP, makes Slide an ideal candidate for web-based content management.
Among the applications of Slide are its use as a file server, and in intranet applications.

Slide guitar is a particular method for playing the guitar. Instead of altering the pitch of the strings in the normal manner, by pressing the strings against the fretboard with the fingers, a slide is used. The slide is a tube of some hard material. Commonly these were made from glass (or a bottleneck, which gave rise to the description bottleneck guitar), although metals (normally steel or brass) are also used. The slide is pressed against the strings (lightly, so as not to touch the strings to the fret board), producing a sustained tone which can be continuously varied by moving the slide across the neck.In this style the guitar is often tuned to an open chord, such as open D or open G, allowing the player to change chords simply by moving the slide with one hand, without fretting any strings with the other. This method is the easiest way of playing chords in slide guitar, and is most common; but many experienced guitarists use other tunings as well.
Some specialised makes of guitar are commonly used to play slide. These include resophonic or resonator guitars, commonly also known as dobros after the Dopyera brothers, whose company first made them. These guitars are made with steel bodies. Some have a square neck rather than the more normal curved neck and are designed to be played across the knee.
Slide guitar is commonly used in several different types of music. These would include blues, country and Hawaiian music. However, Pink Floyd used a slide guitar to create intresting sounds. from the eerie hums on Dark Side of the Moon, to the heavy bass on Meddle.
