Slang | Noun. Source: Comes from the volleyball term to shank, which means to pass the ball in a direction which was unintended. And from the verb to swing. Definition: A shank-swing is a bad underhand pass or bump, in which the player swings at the ball instead of taking a step towards it. The result is that the ball travels in a direction that was unintended by the passer. Context: This word is usually used only to describe a player who passes the ball badly. It is used in gossip between team mates about other teammates. Social Source: Highsch. Volleyball, specifically Wilson H.S. 2000-01 varsity team. Source: Compiled by The University of Oregon.
