Seaman is a village located in Adams County, Ohio. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 1,039.Geography
Seaman is located at 38°56'20" North, 83°34'23" West (38.938889, -83.573027)1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 2.6 km² (1.0 mi²). 2.6 km² (1.0 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there are 1,039 people, 407 households, and 271 families residing in the village. The population density is 393.3/km² (1,017.6/mi²). There are 443 housing units at an average density of 167.7/km² (433.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 98.56% White, 0.00% African American, 0.48% Native American, 0.10% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.10% from other races, and 0.77% from two or more races. 0.77% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 407 households out of which 33.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.1% are married couples living together, 11.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 33.2% are non-families. 29.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 15.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.55 and the average family size is 3.18. In the village the population is spread out with 29.4% under the age of 18, 8.9% from 18 to 24, 26.7% from 25 to 44, 19.0% from 45 to 64, and 16.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 35 years. For every 100 females there are 84.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 85.4 males. The median income for a household in the village is $24,938, and the median income for a family is $34,375. Males have a median income of $31,328 versus $17,381 for females. The per capita income for the village is $13,138. 21.7% of the population and 17.1% of families are below the poverty line.
