Public Administration | The commonest malignant tumour of the kidney. The term hypernephroma was given because the cells of the tumour resemble adrenal cells in being polygonal, clear and, on special staining, show much lipid in their cytoplasm. The cells are in fact renal tubular cells. Adults aged 50 and over are most commonly affected-more often men than women. Source: European Union. (references) |
