Red Devil is a town located in Bethel Census Area, Alaska. As of the 2000 census, the population of the town is 48.

Geography


Red Devil is located at 61°47'0" North, 157°20'13" West (61.783443, -157.336811)1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 68.3 km² (26.4 mi²). 62.7 km² (24.2 mi²) of it is land and 5.7 km² (2.2 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 8.34% water.

Demographics


As of the census2 of 2000, there are 48 people, 17 households, and 12 families residing in the town. The population density is 0.8/km² (2.0/mi²). There are 22 housing units at an average density of 0.4/km² (0.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 45.83% White, 0.00% Black or African American, 43.75% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 2.08% from other races, and 8.33% from two or more races. 14.58% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 17 households out of which 35.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 47.1% are married couples living together, 17.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 29.4% are non-families. 29.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 0.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.82 and the average family size is 3.33. In the town the population is spread out with 41.7% under the age of 18, 2.1% from 18 to 24, 18.8% from 25 to 44, 29.2% from 45 to 64, and 8.3% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 38 years. For every 100 females there are 118.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 100.0 males. The median income for a household in the town is $10,938, and the median income for a family is $25,417. Males have a median income of $0 versus $0 for females. The per capita income for the town is $5,516. 40.9% of the population and 33.3% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 33.3% are under the age of 18 and 0.0% are 65 or older.
