Petroleum chemicals may be obtained from a variety of petroleum fractions, normally from processing of intermediates produced in primary conversion processes. The main basic raw materials are natural gas, refinery gases, liquid petroleum fractions and waxes, while the primary conversion processes include cracking, partial oxidation and pyrolysis. (1).
