Nitrogen tetroxide is a hypergolic propellant often used in combination with a hydrazine-based rocket fuel. Nitrogen tetroxide is an oxidizer and highly toxic and corrosive. When it is combined with water the resultant is nitric acid. It is also called dinitrogen tetroxide.
