Chemical Industry

The liquid or liquefied hydrocarbons produced in the manufacture, purification and stabilisation of natural gas. These are those portion of natural gas which are recovered as liquids in separators, field facilities, or gas processing plants. NGLs include but are not limited to ethane, propane, butane, pentane, natural gasoline and condensate. They may also include small quantities of non-hydrocarbons. Source: European Union. Two 140,000 barrel per day (b/d) condensate distillation trains were commissioned in 2000, thus tripling the refining capacity at the facility in Ruwais and bringing total refining capacity to more than 500,000 b/d. In June 1996, ADNOC signed a joint venture deal with Borealis, a Norwegian-Finnish firm, to construct a 450,000 ton-per-year (TPY) polyethylene plant near the existing natural gas liquid (NGL) fractionation plant in Ruwais.
