Aerospace | In fluid flow, a smooth flow in which no crossflow of fluid particles occur between adjacent streamlines; hence, a flow conceived as made up of layers - commonly distinguished from turbulent flow. (references) |

| Flow in which the fluid particles move approximately in parallel paths with no significant transverse mixing. Source: European Union. (references) | |
Hydrologic | Streamline flow in which successive flow particles follow similar path lines and head loss varies with velocity to the first power. (references) |

(From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia)
In fluid dynamics, laminar flow is a flow regime characterized by high momentum diffusion, low momentum convection, and pressure and velocity independence from time. It is the opposite of turbulent flow. The (dimensionless) Reynolds number characterizes whether flow conditions lead to laminar or turbulent flow.
