Dream Interpretation

For a young woman to dream that she is alone on a turbulent and muddy lake, foretells many vicissitudes are approaching her, and she will regret former extravagances, and disregard of virtuous teaching.
If the water gets into the boat, but by intense struggling she reaches the boat-house safely, it denotes she will be under wrong persuasion, but will eventually overcome it, and rise to honor and distinction.
It may predict the illness of some one near her.
If she sees a young couple in the same position as herself, who succeed in rescuing themselves, she will find that some friend has committed indiscretions, but will succeed in reinstating himself in her favor.
To dream of sailing on a clear and smooth lake, with happy and congenial companions, you will have much happiness, and wealth will meet your demands.
A muddy lake, surrounded with bleak rocks and bare trees, denotes unhappy terminations to business and affection.
A muddy lake, surrounded by green trees, portends that the moral in your nature will fortify itself against passionate desires, and overcoming the same will direct your energy into a safe and remunerative channel. If the lake be clear and surrounded by barrenness, a profitable existence will be marred by immoral and passionate dissipation.
To see yourself reflected in a clear lake, denotes coming joys and many ardent friends.
To see foliaged trees reflected in the lake, you will enjoy to a satiety Love's draught of passion and happiness.
To see slimy and uncanny inhabitants of the lake rise up and menace you, denotes failure and ill health from squandering time, energy and health on illicit pleasures. You will drain the utmost drop of happiness, and drink deeply of Remorse's bitter concoction. Source: Ten Thousand Dreams Interpreted ....

Lake County, Oregon

(From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia)

Lake County is a county located in the U.S. State of Oregon. It was named for the number of large lakes within the county boundaries at the time of its creation: Lake Albert, Goose Lake, and Silver Lake. As of 2000, the population is 7,422.

Economy

The traditional county economy rests on lumber, agriculture, and government. Irrigation has permitted agriculture based upon the raising of livestock and the growing of hay and grain to thrive despite the low rainfall and a short growing season. Lumber and wood products are taken from the Fremont National Forest. Government employees from the national forest and the regional Bureau of Land Management headquarters provide stability to an economy that otherwise would have to rely only on seasonal agricultural and lumber jobs. The Bureau of Land Management is landowner of 49% of the lands within the county. Tourism is a growing industry because of the county's many attractions which include Hart Mountain Antelope Refuge, Hunter's Hot Springs, Goose Lake, and areas for rock hunting.

History

Lake County was created from Jackson and Wasco Counties on October 24, 1874 by the State Legislature. It then included the present Klamath County and all of the present Lake County except Warner Valley. In 1882 land was removed to create Klamath County, and in 1885 the Warner area from Grant County was added. Linkville, now Klamath Falls, was the first county seat. M. Bullard gave 20 acres as the Lakeview townsite. By the 1875 election a town had been started there and an election moved the county seat to Lakeview. Because of poor transportation connections with the rest of Oregon, the early economic orientation of Lake County was toward California. During the 1840s and 1850s the county was part of the military courier route between The Dalles on the Columbia River and the Presidio in San Francisco. The county did not acquire a railroad connection until the 1890s.

Lake Erie

(From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia)

Lake Erie is one of the five large freshwater Great Lakes in North America, the world's largest such lakes.

It has a surface area of 24,000 km² (10,000 sq. miles), an average depth of 19 meters (62 feet), and a retention time of 2.6 years. It contains 483 cubic kilometers of water. (For comparison, Lake Superior has an average depth of 483 feet, a volume of 12,232 cubic km and a retention time of 191 years.)

Lake Erie is primarily fed by the Detroit River (from Lake Huron and Lake St. Clair) and drains via the Niagara River and Niagara Falls into Lake Ontario. Navigation downstream is provided by the Welland Canal, part of the Great Lakes Waterway.

Lake Erie is the shallowest of the Great Lakes and became famously polluted in the 1960s and 1970s. Environmental regulation led to a great increase in water quality; however, invasive Zebra mussels currently threaten the entire Lake Erie ecosystem.

The American states Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York are located to the south of Lake Erie; Michigan lies to the west, and the Canadian province of Ontario lies to the north. Point Pelee National Park, the most southerly point of Canada, is located on a peninsula extending into the lake.

The cities of Buffalo, New York, Erie, Pennsylvania, and Cleveland, Ohio are located on the shores of Lake Erie.

Lake George

(From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia)

Lake George is a long narrow lake at the base of the Adirondack Mountains northern New York. The lake extends about 52 kilometers on a north-south axis and varies for 1.5 to 5 km in width. It drains into Lake Champlain to its north through a short stream with many falls and rapids, dropping about 50 meters in its 4 km course. The village of Lake George is located on its shore.

History

The first European visitor to the area, Samuel de Champlain, noted the lake his journal on July 3, 1609, but never named it. In 1646 the missionary Isaac Jogues named it Lac du Saint-Sacrement, and the exit stream as the river La Chute.

On August 28, 1755) Sir William Johnson led British colonial forces to occupy the area in the French and Indian War. He renamed the lake as Lake George for King George and a protecting fortifications at its southern end. The fort was named for the king's son as Fort William Henry. In September, the French responded by beginning construction of Fort Carillon (Fort Ticonderoga) on a point where La Chute enters Lake Champlain.

Lake Michigan is the only one of the Great Lakes wholly within the borders of the US. It has a surface area of 57750 square kilometers, making it the 5th largest lake in the world. It is 307 miles long by 118 miles wide. It greatest depth is 923 feet (281 m). It contains a volume of 4,918 cubic km of water.

Cities on the shores of Lake Michigan include Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Green Bay, Wisconsin, Gary, Indiana, Michigan City, Indiana and Chicago, Illinois. The southern tip of the lake is heavily industrialized. Some 12 million people live along its shores.

Lake Michigan beaches, especially those beaches of western Michigan and northern Indiana, are known for their beauty. The sand is soft and white, there are often high sand dunes covered in prickly green dune grass and rambling sand cherries, and the water is cold and amazingly clear. When standing on most of the beaches in Michigan, it is impossible to see across the lake to Wisconsin.

Several state parks are located on the lakeshore as well as the Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore and Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. Part of the shoreline is also in the Hiawatha National Forest and the Manistee National Forest. Part of the Michigan Islands National Wildlife Refuge is located in Lake Michigan.

Lake Michigan drains into Lake Huron through the Straits of Mackinac and is part of the Great Lakes Waterway.

Motorists can cross Lake Michigan by a ferry that runs from Ludington, Michigan to Manitowoc, Wisconsin.

'Listen,' Monk said to Elmo, 'we're moving through the waterin 4/4 time and the birds are singing 6/8 to it.' I stopped rowing and listened; I've been listening ever since.
