Junior is a town located in Barbour County, West Virginia. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 450.Geography
Junior is located at 38°58'39" North, 79°57'1" West (38.977379, -79.950300)1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.8 km² (0.3 mi²). 0.8 km² (0.3 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 6.25% water.Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there are 450 people, 178 households, and 134 families residing in the town. The population density is 579.2/km² (1,510.8/mi²). There are 202 housing units at an average density of 260.0/km² (678.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 98.89% White, 0.00% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 1.11% from two or more races. 0.44% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 178 households out of which 35.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.1% are married couples living together, 15.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 24.7% are non-families. 22.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.53 and the average family size is 2.96. In the town the population is spread out with 26.0% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 27.1% from 25 to 44, 25.1% from 45 to 64, and 13.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 99.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 97.0 males. The median income for a household in the town is $20,536, and the median income for a family is $26,250. Males have a median income of $21,875 versus $15,875 for females. The per capita income for the town is $10,279. 24.5% of the population and 20.3% of families are below the poverty line.
