Jive is a dance style that originated among African-Americans in the early 1900s. It is thought to be derived from the boogie woogie dance style.

Modern Jive derives from dance styles including Swing, Lindy Hop and Rock and Roll.

Jive can also mean glib, or foolish, as in You're jivin me. or Don't give me none of that jive talk!
