Protein hybrid formed by DNA techniques and consisting of two proteins linked together covalently. The fusion is accomplished at the gene level. It is normally used when the intention is to express a eucaryotic protein in a bacterial cell, since fusion proteins are generally more resistant to proteolytic degradation. Source: European Union.
