The Council of Chalcedon took place from October 8 - November 1, 451 A.D at Chalcedon, a city of Bithynia in Asia Minor. It is the fourth of the first seven Ecumenical Councils in Christianity, and is therefore recognized as infallible in its dogmatic definitions by the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox churches. It set forth the Chalcedonian Creed, which describes the full humanity and full divinity of Jesus Christ, the second person of the Holy Trinity. Ecumenical councils after the seventh are recognized as infallible only by Roman Catholics.Source: adapted by the editor from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia under a copyleft GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) from the article "Council of Chalcedon."

Warning: Wikipedia contains spoilersFictional time period from J. R. R. Tolkien's universe of Middle-earth.
Ages: Third Age - Fourth Age - (no more ages)
The Fourth Age began after Sauron was finally defeated, when his Ruling Ring was destroyed, and the Ring Bearers left Middle-earth for the Uttermost West.
The literature does not provide information on more than the first few centuries of this age, so we don't know when it ended, if it ever did.
This age was (presumably) marked by the recovery of the Númenorean kingdoms in exile (Arnor and Gondor), the final ascent of Men and the total wane of the Elves.
Tolkien said that he thought the distance between the end of the Third Age and the 20th century was about 6000 years, and that in 1958 it should have been around the end of the Fifth Age if the Fourth and Fifth Ages were about the same length as the Second and Third Ages. He said, however, that he believed the Ages had quickened and that it was about the end of the Sixth Age/beginning of the Seventh. That implies that maybe the fall of Nazi Germany ended the Sixth Age in 1945, as the other ages ended with the downfalls of tyrants. The estimation of 6000 years would place the end of the Third Age and the start of the Fourth in the 5th millennium BC.

Amendment IV (the Fourth Amendment) of the United States Constitution, which is part of the Bill of Rights, states:The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
Analysis
In the United States, the Fourth Amendment remains a powerful protection that its citizens use to guard against abuse of police power. Often a criminal trial will depend on a particular piece of evidence. If this evidence is gathered by the police in a way that violates the Fourth Amendment, then the judge will exclude the evidence from the trial. This often leads to the acquittal of the defendant. The effect is to provide a strong incentive to every police officer in the United States to understand and apply the search and seizure rules of the Fourth Amendment.
The courts' interpretation of the Fourth Amendment changes over time, and the rules on the exclusion of evidence often seem subjective and dependent on the circumstances. At one extreme, evidence is clearly admissible if it is in clear sight of a policeman walking down the street. At the other extreme, evidence is clearly inadmissible if a policeman opens the door of a random house, searches it without a warrant or other legal authorization, and seizes the evidence. Between these two extremes, one can imagine countless scenarios which are less clear-cut, so the courts have adopted various standards of "probable cause" and "reasonableness" in deciding whether a particular search or seizure violates the Fourth Amendment.

The String Quartet No. 4 by Béla Bartók was written from July to September, 1928 in Budapest. The work is in five movements:
This work, like the String Quartet No. 5, and several other pieces by Bartók, is in a so-called "arch" structure - the first movement is thematically related to the last, and the second to the fourth with the third movement standing alone.
- Allegro
- Prestissimo, con sordino
- Non troppo lento
- Allegretto pizzicato
- Allegro molto
The quartet employs a similar harmonic language to that of the String Quartet No. 3, and like that work, it has been suggested that Bartók was influenced in writing this by Alban Berg's Lyric Suite (1926) which he had heard in 1927.
The quartet employs a number of extended instrumental techniques: for the whole of the second movement all four instruments are played with mutess, while the entire fourth movement is played pizzicato. In the third movement, Bartók sometimes indicates held notes to be played without vibrato, and in various places he asks for glissandi (sliding from one note to another) and so-called Bartók pizzicati (a pizzicato where the string rebounds against the instrument's fingerboard).
The work is dedicated to the Pro Arte Quartet but the first public performance of the work was given by the Waldbauer-Kerpely Quartet in Budapest on March 20, 1929. It was first published in the same year by Universal Edition.

Thomas Stewart Baker (born January 20, 1934) is a British actor, mainly associated with the role of the Doctor in Doctor Who, which he played for seven years.Baker was born in Liverpool, to a poor Roman Catholic family, and left school to become a novice monk. He remained in the monastic life for six years, but left and went into the Merchant Navy, at the same time taking up acting, at first as a hobby. In 1971, he got his first big break with the role of Rasputin in the film Nicholas and Alexandra.
Tom Baker as the Doctor (#4)In 1974, Baker took on the role of the Doctor from Jon Pertwee, and quickly made it his own. His eccentric style of dress, particularly with his trademark long scarf, and speech made him an immediately recognisable figure, and the viewing public quickly forgot his predecessors. He remained in the role for longer than any of them, and his decision to move on was regretted by many of the programme's fans.
Prior to leaving Doctor Who, he had married, as his second wife, his co-star Lalla Ward, but they divorced after 16 months.
Baker's subsequent career was relatively unmemorable. He played character parts on television and radio (most notably the Elizabethan sea captain in Blackadder), but became mostly known for doing advertising voiceovers. In the late 1990s he had a recurring role in the revival of Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased). His distinctive voice has become a gift for impressionists, and he is regularly impersonated in the popular comedy series Dead Ringers.
Also a talented writer, Baker created a short fairytale-style novel titled The Boy Who Kicked Pigs, which has been described as "A Grotesque Masterpiece". He has also written an autobiography, entitled Who on Earth is Tom Baker.

Building 6 was to house the National Cancer Institute, the first of the nine specialized institutes that would comprise NIH. See also ar003810. The walls of the digestive tract have four layers of tissue: mucosa, submucosa, muscularis externa and serosa. The inner-most layer is the mucosa, a membrane that forms a continuous lining of the GI tract from the mouth to the anus. In the large bowel, this tissue contains cells that produce mucus to lubricate and protect the smooth inner surface of the bowel wall. Connective tissue and muscle separate the muscosa from the second layer, the submucosa, which contains blood vessels, lymph vessels, nerves and mucus-producing glands. Next to the submucosa is the muscularis externa, consisting of two layers of muscle fibers-one that runs lengthwise and one that encircles the bowel. The fourth layer, the serosa, is a thin membrane that produces fluid to lubricate the outer surface of the bowel so that it can slide against adjacent organs. Lexicography | Devil's Dictionary | SABBATH, n. A weekly festival having its origin in the fact that God made the world in six days and was arrested on the seventh. Among the Jews observance of the day was enforced by a Commandment of which this is the Christian version: "Remember the seventh day to make thy neighbor keep it wholly." To the Creator it seemed fit and expedient that the Sabbath should be the last day of the week, but the Early Fathers of the Church held other views. So great is the sanctity of the day that even where the Lord holds a doubtful and precarious jurisdiction over those who go down to (and down into) the sea it is reverently recognized, as is manifest in the following deep-water version of the Fourth Commandment: Six days shalt thou labor and do all thou art able, And on the seventh holystone the deck and scrape the cable. Decks are no longer holystoned, but the cable still supplies the captain with opportunity to attest a pious respect for the divine ordinance. |
