EXPLOSION-HAZARD INVESTIGATION

Specialty Definition: EXPLOSION-HAZARD INVESTIGATION

DomainDefinition

Mining

The investigation of a mine to determine the possibility of an explosion occurring by reason of the kind, size, purity, and dryness of the coal dust along the mine passages and the presence or absence of combustible gases. It also determines the degree of the hazard of an explosion from natural conditions and of one arising through the neglect or ignorance of the mine personnel. The purpose of such investigations is to make specific recommendations for reducing that hazard to a negligible point byappropriate methods and continued diligence. (references)
