It is blended with gasoline to make gasohol. Used in the United States as agasoline octane enhancer and oxygenate, it increases octane 2.5 to 3.0 numbers at 10percent concentration. Ethanol can also be used in higher concentration (E85) invehicles optimized for its use. (also know as Ethyl Alcohol or Grain Alcohol,CH3CH2OH). (references)
