The loosest manner of systematic arrangement of uniform solid spheres in a clastic sediment or crystal lattice, characterized by a unit cell that is a cube whose eight corners are the centers of the spheres involved. An aggregate with cubic packing has the maximum porosity (47.64%). (references)
