Clarion is a city located in Wright County, Iowa. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 2,968. It is the county seat of Wright County6.

Geography


Clarion is located at 42°43'52" North, 93°43'52" West (42.731112, -93.731095)1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 7.1 km² (2.7 mi²). 7.1 km² (2.7 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics


As of the census of 2000, there are 2,968 people, 1,255 households, and 786 families residing in the city. The population density is 418.2/km² (1,081.6/mi²). There are 1,355 housing units at an average density of 190.9/km² (493.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 93.67% White, 0.20% African American, 0.24% Native American, 0.13% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 5.53% from other races, and 0.24% from two or more races. 9.80% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 1,255 households out of which 27.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.5% are married couples living together, 6.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 37.3% are non-families. 33.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 19.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.29 and the average family size is 2.89. In the city the population is spread out with 23.6% under the age of 18, 7.2% from 18 to 24, 24.1% from 25 to 44, 21.7% from 45 to 64, and 23.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 42 years. For every 100 females there are 90.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 86.7 males. The median income for a household in the city is $37,026, and the median income for a family is $47,083. Males have a median income of $28,281 versus $23,077 for females. The per capita income for the city is $18,431. 9.9% of the population and 5.3% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 12.4% are under the age of 18 and 7.2% are 65 or older.

Clarion is a borough located in Clarion County, Pennsylvania. As of the 2000 census, the borough had a total population of 6,185. It is the county seat of Clarion County6.

Geography


Clarion is located at 41°12'42" North, 79°23'2" West (41.211791, -79.384005)1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 3.9 km² (1.5 mi²). 3.9 km² (1.5 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.97% water.

Demographics


As of the census of 2000, there are 6,185 people, 2,000 households, and 718 families residing in the borough. The population density is 1,602.7/km² (4,142.8/mi²). There are 2,192 housing units at an average density of 568.0/km² (1,468.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the borough is 94.55% White, 3.48% African American, 0.08% Native American, 0.99% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.15% from other races, and 0.76% from two or more races. 0.82% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 2,000 households out of which 15.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 25.3% are married couples living together, 8.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 64.1% are non-families. 38.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.17 and the average family size is 2.75. In the borough the population is spread out with 8.8% under the age of 18, 56.4% from 18 to 24, 13.1% from 25 to 44, 11.4% from 45 to 64, and 10.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 22 years. For every 100 females there are 73.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 71.2 males. The median income for a household in the borough is $19,902, and the median income for a family is $40,208. Males have a median income of $31,204 versus $20,214 for females. The per capita income for the borough is $10,832. 41.2% of the population and 18.8% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 27.1% are under the age of 18 and 7.2% are 65 or older.
