Tool material, usually in the form of tool tips. There are different ceramic mixtures:Sintered oxide, Sintered oxide and metal, Sintered oxide and carbide, Sintered oxide, metal and carbide(cermets(=U. S. A. )). Main component of the material is Al203. Source: European Union. (references)

Mining

A material or body consisting of ceramic particles bonded with a metal. According to the American Society for Testing and Materials, the ceramic phase must be present in 15% or more of the body. A ceramic foam or porous ceramic is not a cermet because the bonding of the ceramic structure isnot dependent on or due to the metal. (references)
