According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 118.1 km² (45.6 mi²). 116.5 km² (45.0 mi²) of it is land and 1.6 km² (0.6 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.34% water.History
The name comes from a Creek community who established
a new town site at an area they had visited while gathering materials for making arrows. Since they had broken branches from the trees instead of cutting them to make their arrows, they named their new camp "Thlikachka" or "Broken Arrow."Geography
