Mathematics

The graduation of a grouped frequency distribution provides, for each grouping interval, a "theoretical" or "expected" frequency. The difference of this quantity and the observed quantity taken with regard to sign and cumulated for increasing values of the variates starting from the least, is called the accumulated deviation.
