A class of protozoa consisting of animal-like flagellates. Its organisms are heterotrophic and have one-to-many flagella. This class includes one superorder, Parabasalidea, and six orders: Choanoflagellida, Kinetoplastida, Proteromonadida, Retortamonadida, Diplomonadida, and Oxymonadida. (references)
