Occupations

Tends wash tanks and centrifugal wringers to wash and dry nitrated TNT: Starts agitators in wash tank to mix water and TNT received from NITRATOR OPERATOR (chemical). Turns valves to draw off wash water after prescribed washing and settling time and to regulate flow of steam or hot water to tank coils to maintain contents at specified temperature. Admits metered amounts of chemicals to facilitate purification and crystallization of TNT. Opens valves at bottom of tank to drop crystallized TNT through vibrating screen and water spray to form pellets. Pumps pellets from receiving pits to baskets of centrifugal wringers and starts wringers to expel water from pellets. Pulls lever to empty TNT from wringers. (references)
