Health

Cys-Tyr-Ile-Gln-Asn-Cys-Pro-Arg-Gly, cyclic 1-6 disulfide. The non-mammalian hormone that controls water and salt metabolism. It is the phylogenetic precursor of both antidiuretic hormones and oxytocins and a possible neuroendocrine mediator in mammals. Vasotocin has oxytocic and vasopressor actions. (references)
