Computing

At the present time it is possible to distinguish three basic types of VDU tasks:data-enquiry, dialogue tasks, and data or text entry. In data enquiry tasks the main activity is concerned with requesting information from the computer. In dialogue tasks the flow of information is both to the system, via the keyboard, and form the system via the screen. In data and text entry the VDU is used pricipally for the high volume entry of either alphanumeric data or text from documents into the computer system. Source: European Union. (references)
