Tedder is a town located in Broward County, Florida. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 2,079.

Geography


Tedder is located at 26°17'4" North, 80°7'16" West (26.284357, -80.121106)1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.7 km² (0.3 mi²). 0.7 km² (0.3 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics


As of the census of 2000, there are 2,079 people, 508 households, and 409 families residing in the town. The population density is 2,866.8/km² (7,465.6/mi²). There are 531 housing units at an average density of 732.2/km² (1,906.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 40.79% White, 39.59% African American, 0.05% Native American, 1.49% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 6.73% from other races, and 11.35% from two or more races. 21.12% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 508 households out of which 48.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.8% are married couples living together, 18.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 19.3% are non-families. 11.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 2.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.88 and the average family size is 4.10. In the town the population is spread out with 30.6% under the age of 18, 11.2% from 18 to 24, 28.0% from 25 to 44, 19.7% from 45 to 64, and 10.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 33 years. For every 100 females there are 103.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 99.9 males. The median income for a household in the town is $40,069, and the median income for a family is $37,330. Males have a median income of $24,053 versus $25,913 for females. The per capita income for the town is $11,737. 18.2% of the population and 13.9% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 20.2% are under the age of 18 and 10.2% are 65 or older.
