Sleepy Hollow is a village located in Kane County, Illinois. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 3,553.

Sleepy Hollow was founded in 1950 by Floyd Falese. Various streets in the village are named after characters in Washington Irving's The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, including Headless Horseman Drive, Ichabod Crane Drive, and Beau Brommel Drive.

Geography

Sleepy Hollow is located at 42°5'27" North, 88°18'44" West (42.090792, -88.312314)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 5.3 km² (2.0 mi²). 5.2 km² (2.0 mi²) of it is land and 0.49% is water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 3,553 people, 1,185 households, and 1,026 families residing in the village. The population density is 682.5/km² (1,766.3/mi²). There are 1,207 housing units at an average density of 231.9/km² (600.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 93.33% White, 0.65% African American, 0.06% Native American, 2.17% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 1.77% from other races, and 2.00% from two or more races. 3.77% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 1,185 households out of which 45.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 78.8% are married couples living together, 5.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 13.4% are non-families. 10.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 2.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.00 and the average family size is 3.22.

In the village the population is spread out with 30.5% under the age of 18, 5.5% from 18 to 24, 28.6% from 25 to 44, 28.6% from 45 to 64, and 6.8% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 38 years. For every 100 females there are 102.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 99.1 males.

The median income for a household in the village is $91,279, and the median income for a family is $93,629. Males have a median income of $67,379 versus $40,260 for females. The per capita income for the village is $31,005. 1.8% of the population and 1.5% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 1.2% are under the age of 18 and 4.8% are 65 or older.

Sleepy Hollow is a village located in Westchester County, New York. Formerly known as North Tarrytown, this town was officially renamed in March of 1997 to Sleepy Hollow. It is the location of Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, made famous by Washington Irving's story The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 9,212.

Sleepy Hollow is located at 41°5'31" North, 73°51'52" West (41.091998, -73.864361)1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 13.2 km² (5.1 mi²). 5.9 km² (2.3 mi²) of it is land and 7.4 km² (2.8 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 55.58% water.

Demographics


As of the census of 2000, there are 9,212 people, 3,181 households, and 2,239 families residing in the village. The population density is 1,566.9/km² (4,054.7/mi²). There are 3,253 housing units at an average density of 553.3/km² (1,431.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 67.64% White, 5.23% African American, 0.84% Native American, 1.87% Asian, 0.09% Pacific Islander, 18.82% from other races, and 5.51% from two or more races. 45.08% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 3,181 households out of which 36.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.5% are married couples living together, 13.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 29.6% are non-families. 23.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.89 and the average family size is 3.37. In the village the population is spread out with 25.0% under the age of 18, 8.9% from 18 to 24, 36.7% from 25 to 44, 18.9% from 45 to 64, and 10.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 34 years. For every 100 females there are 103.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 101.9 males. The median income for a household in the village is $54,201, and the median income for a family is $63,889. Males have a median income of $39,923 versus $32,146 for females. The per capita income for the village is $28,325. 7.4% of the population and 5.7% of families are below the poverty line. Sleepy Hollow is located at 44°13'58" North, 105°25'40" West (44.232655, -105.427745)1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.8 km² (0.3 mi²). 0.8 km² (0.3 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics


As of the census of 2000, there are 1,177 people, 361 households, and 322 families residing in the town. The population density is 1,465.9/km² (3,767.7/mi²). There are 368 housing units at an average density of 458.3/km² (1,178.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 95.41% White, 0.08% African American, 1.27% Native American, 1.02% Asian, 0.42% Pacific Islander, 1.61% from other races, and 0.17% from two or more races. 4.50% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 361 households out of which 63.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 78.4% are married couples living together, 5.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 10.8% are non-families. 7.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 1.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.26 and the average family size is 3.42. In the town the population is spread out with 37.6% under the age of 18, 6.5% from 18 to 24, 39.8% from 25 to 44, 15.1% from 45 to 64, and 1.0% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 29 years. For every 100 females there are 100.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 101.4 males. The median income for a household in the town is $62,750, and the median income for a family is $70,441. Males have a median income of $52,679 versus $19,479 for females. The per capita income for the town is $20,781. 2.7% of the population and 2.5% of families are below the poverty line.
