Romulus is a city located in Wayne County, Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 22,979.

Geography


According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 93.0 km² (35.9 mi²). 93.0 km² (35.9 mi²) of it is land and 0.03% is water.

Demographics


As of the census of 2000, there are 22,979 people, 8,439 households, and 5,941 families residing in the city. The population density is 247.1/km² (639.9/mi²). There are 8,943 housing units at an average density of 96.2/km² (249.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 65.36% White, 29.99% African American, 0.54% Native American, 0.59% Asian, 0.09% Pacific Islander, 0.81% from other races, and 2.63% from two or more races. 2.01% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 8,439 households out of which 36.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.5% are married couples living together, 18.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 29.6% are non-families. 23.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.70 and the average family size is 3.19. In the city the population is spread out with 29.2% under the age of 18, 8.4% from 18 to 24, 31.7% from 25 to 44, 22.8% from 45 to 64, and 7.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 33 years. For every 100 females there are 95.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 92.6 males. The median income for a household in the city is $45,088, and the median income for a family is $51,497. Males have a median income of $41,372 versus $27,517 for females. The per capita income for the city is $19,679. 12.6% of the population and 10.6% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 16.8% are under the age of 18 and 12.4% are 65 or older.

Romulus is a town located in Seneca County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 2,036.

Geography


According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 132.9 km² (51.3 mi²). 97.9 km² (37.8 mi²) of it is land and 35.0 km² (13.5 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 26.34% water.

Demographics


As of the census of 2000, there are 2,036 people, 583 households, and 420 families residing in the town. The population density is 20.8/km² (53.9/mi²). There are 812 housing units at an average density of 8.3/km² (21.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 81.88% White, 13.75% African American, 0.05% Native American, 0.79% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 1.87% from other races, and 1.67% from two or more races. 4.96% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 583 households out of which 35.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.5% are married couples living together, 9.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 27.8% are non-families. 21.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.76 and the average family size is 3.15. In the town the population is spread out with 23.6% under the age of 18, 8.8% from 18 to 24, 34.4% from 25 to 44, 21.8% from 45 to 64, and 11.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 124.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 137.6 males. The median income for a household in the town is $42,404, and the median income for a family is $45,938. Males have a median income of $39,417 versus $25,938 for females. The per capita income for the town is $16,332. 14.3% of the population and 9.1% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 20.5% are under the age of 18 and 4.9% are 65 or older.
