Powhatan is a town located in Lawrence County, Arkansas. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 50.

Geography


Powhatan is located at 36°4'59" North, 91°7'11" West (36.083098, -91.119626)1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.3 km² (0.1 mi²). 0.3 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics


As of the census2 of 2000, there are 50 people, 18 households, and 14 families residing in the town. The population density is 160.9/km² (412.3/mi²). There are 21 housing units at an average density of 67.6/km² (173.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 98.00% White, 0.00% Black or African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 2.00% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 18 households out of which 38.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 72.2% are married couples living together, 5.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 22.2% are non-families. 16.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 0.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.78 and the average family size is 3.21. In the town the population is spread out with 26.0% under the age of 18, 8.0% from 18 to 24, 20.0% from 25 to 44, 28.0% from 45 to 64, and 18.0% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 42 years. For every 100 females there are 108.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 105.6 males. The median income for a household in the town is $31,875, and the median income for a family is $42,917. Males have a median income of $41,250 versus $28,750 for females. The per capita income for the town is $13,149. 12.2% of the population and 0.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 0.0% are under the age of 18 and 50.0% are 65 or older.

Powhatan is a village located in Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 141.

Geography


Powhatan is located at 31°52'26" North, 93°12'0" West (31.874012, -93.200083)1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.4 km² (0.5 mi²). 1.4 km² (0.5 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics


As of the census of 2000, there are 141 people, 55 households, and 36 families residing in the village. The population density is 100.8/km² (258.8/mi²). There are 81 housing units at an average density of 57.9/km² (148.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 14.89% White, 78.72% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.71% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.71% from other races, and 4.96% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 55 households out of which 18.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 30.9% are married couples living together, 25.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 34.5% are non-families. 32.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 21.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.56 and the average family size is 3.36. In the village the population is spread out with 23.4% under the age of 18, 14.2% from 18 to 24, 14.2% from 25 to 44, 27.7% from 45 to 64, and 20.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 43 years. For every 100 females there are 98.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 86.2 males. The median income for a household in the village is $16,667, and the median income for a family is $17,250. Males have a median income of $12,500 versus $16,250 for females. The per capita income for the village is $9,488. 40.2% of the population and 29.7% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 64.0% are under the age of 18 and 17.4% are 65 or older.
