Family: Gadidae
Species: Pollachius virensPollock grow to 3'6" (ca 90 cm) and can weigh up to 46 1/2 lbs (ca 21 kg). This marine fish has a strongly-defined silvery lateral-line running down the sides. Above the lateral line the color is a greenish black. The belly is white. It can be found in water up to 100 fathoms (ca 183 m) deep over rocks, and anywhere in the water column. They have a range from North Carolina up to the Gulf of St. Lawrence. They are an important part of the New England and North Atlantic fishery, though less so than cod and haddock. They spawn in late winter and early spring on Georges Bank, off the New England coast.

Pollock is a 2000 biographical film which tells the life story of artist Jackson Pollock. It stars Ed Harris, Robert Knott, Molly Regan, Marcia Gay Harden and Sada Thompson.The movie was adapted by Barbara Turner and Susan Emshwiller from the book Jackson Pollock: An American Saga by Steven Naifeh and Gregory White Smith. It was directed by Harris.
It won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress (Marcia Gay Harden) and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor (Ed Harris).

Pollock is a town located in Grant Parish, Louisiana. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 376.Geography
Pollock is located at 31°31'29" North, 92°24'32" West (31.524760, -92.408866)1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 3.3 km² (1.3 mi²). 3.3 km² (1.3 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there are 376 people, 157 households, and 108 families residing in the town. The population density is 115.2/km² (298.7/mi²). There are 204 housing units at an average density of 62.5/km² (162.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 97.87% White, 0.00% African American, 0.27% Native American, 0.53% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 1.33% from two or more races. 1.86% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 157 households out of which 36.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.4% are married couples living together, 18.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 30.6% are non-families. 30.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 15.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.39 and the average family size is 2.98. In the town the population is spread out with 28.5% under the age of 18, 7.7% from 18 to 24, 25.5% from 25 to 44, 22.6% from 45 to 64, and 15.7% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 38 years. For every 100 females there are 91.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 83.0 males. The median income for a household in the town is $25,625, and the median income for a family is $29,063. Males have a median income of $21,250 versus $28,125 for females. The per capita income for the town is $12,134. 22.9% of the population and 20.5% of families are below the poverty line.
