Peebles is a burgh in the Scottish Borders, lying on the River Tweed. Notable buildings in the town include Peebles Old Parish Church and Neidpath Castle. Other local attractions include a museum and the Kailzie Gardens.

Peebles is a village located in Adams County, Ohio. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 1,739.Geography
Peebles is located at 38°56'52" North, 83°24'28" West (38.947650, -83.407764)1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 3.1 km² (1.2 mi²). 3.1 km² (1.2 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there are 1,739 people, 705 households, and 456 families residing in the village. The population density is 554.9/km² (1,433.5/mi²). There are 788 housing units at an average density of 251.4/km² (649.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 97.87% White, 0.35% African American, 0.75% Native American, 0.29% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.06% from other races, and 0.69% from two or more races. 0.46% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 705 households out of which 31.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 44.4% are married couples living together, 13.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 35.3% are non-families. 31.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 15.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.43 and the average family size is 3.04. In the village the population is spread out with 27.6% under the age of 18, 9.0% from 18 to 24, 26.5% from 25 to 44, 20.5% from 45 to 64, and 16.4% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 89.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 85.7 males. The median income for a household in the village is $21,250, and the median income for a family is $25,365. Males have a median income of $27,500 versus $19,375 for females. The per capita income for the village is $12,326. 28.2% of the population and 25.1% of families are below the poverty line.
