Specialty Definition: Nib

(From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia)

A nib is a small thin convex metal device that tapers to a split point, fits into a holder, and is used for writing or drawing.

Nibs are used in ink pens in order to produce a certain line with a characteristic quality - for example a flat nib will produce a chisel-point line. A smaller nib will produce a smaller and thinner line.

The use of nibs are useful in calligraphy.
