Literature | King-of-Arms An officer whose duty it is to direct the heralds, preside at chapters, and have the jurisdiction of armoury. There are three kings-of-arms in England viz. Garter, Clarencieux, and Norroy; one in Scotland viz. Lyon; and one in Ireland, called Ulster. Bath King-of-Arms is no member of the college, but takes precedence next after Garter.
