An isotonic cellular environment occurs when an equal solute concentration exists inside and outside the cell. When a cell is in an isotonic environment, the cell will not lose or gain any solutes.Isotonic muscle exercise is exercise during which the muscles remain under relatively constant tension, for example, in weightlifting.
‘Iso’ as a prefix is also used to describe balance, such as: Sharks are usually isoosmotic with the sea water.
