In his theory of psychoanalysis, Sigmund Freud sought to explain how the unconscious mind operates by proposing that it has a particular structure. He proposed that the self was divided into three parts: the Ego, the Superego and the Id.
The general claim that the mind is not a monolithic or homogeneous thing continues to have an enormous influence on people outside of psychology. Many, however, have questioned or rejected the specific claim that the mind is divided into these three components.
The ancient Greeks also divided the soul into three parts of their own, with only one part in common. The Greek parts were the desiring part (which is like what we call the id, but without so much implication of suppressed deviant sexuality), the spirited part, and the reasoning part. (See also the article forms of state.)
The Id
The Id (Latin, "it" in English, "es" in the original German) represented primary process thinking -- our most primitive need gratification type thoughts. The Id, Freud stated, constitutes part of one's unconscious mind. It acts on primitive instinctual urges (sex, hunger, anger, etc.).
The Superego
The Superego ("Über-ich" in the original German) represented our conscience and counteracted the Id with moral and ethical thoughts. The Superego, Freud stated, is the moral agent that links both our conscious and unconscious minds. The Superego stands in opposition to the desires of the Id. The Superego is itself part of the unconscious mind; it is the internalization of the world view and norms and mores a child absorbs from parents and peers. As the conscience, it is knowledge of right and wrong; as world view it is knowledge of what is real.
The Ego
In Freud's view the Ego stands in between the Id and the Superego to balance our primitive needs and our moral/ethical beliefs. ("Ego" means "I" in Latin; the original German word Freud coined was "ich".) He stated that the Ego resides almost entirely in our conscious mind. Relying on experience, a healthy Ego provides the ability to adapt to reality and interact with the outside world in a way that accommodates both Id and Superego.
Carl Jung's views on the Ego
Interestingly, Carl Jung saw the Ego (which Freud wrote about in the literal German as "the I", that is, one's conscious experience of what one is) as a complex. If the "I" is a complex, what might be the archetype that structures it? Jung, and many Jungians, might say "the hero", that which separates from the community to some extent to ultimately carry the community further.
The "I" or Ego is tremendously important to Jung's clinical work. Jung's theory of etiology of psychopathology could almost be simplified to be stated as a too rigid conscious attitude towards the whole of the psyche.

id Software (note the lower-case id) is a computer game developer based in Mesquite, Texas. The company was founded by four members of the computer company Softdisk: John Carmack, a programmer, John Romero and Tom Hall, game designers, and Adrian Carmack, an artist.
The Commander Keen series, a platform game introducing one of the first smooth side-scrolling game engines for the PC, brought id Software into the gaming mainstream.
The company's breakout product was Wolfenstein 3D, a first person shooter with smooth 3D graphics that were unprecedented in computer games, and with violent game play that many gamers found fun. After essentially founding an entire genre with this game, id created the games DOOM, DOOM II, Quake, Quake II, and Quake III. Each was a first person shooter with progressively higher levels of graphic technology (and progressively higher minimum system requirements).
The lead programmer for id Software is John Carmack, whose skill at 3D programming is widely recognised in the software industry. John Romero, considered by many as a gifted game designer, also used to work for id Software until he left after the completion of Quake in 1996 to form Ion Storm in Dallas with fellow co-worker Tom Hall.
The shareware method of distribution was initially employed by id to sell their software. They would release the first part of their trilogy as shareware, then sell the other two installments by mail order. Only later (about the time of the release of DOOM II) did id release their games via the more traditional shrink-wrapped boxes in stores (through other game publishers). It is likely that id Software has been the most successful shareware publisher to date.
Currently, id's "game engines" are licensed to many other developers, to the point where some in the industry regard id first and foremost as a game engine developer and only secondly as a producer of finished retail games. The price of licensing id's engines normally runs about $250,000 per title. id releases its older game engines, such as that of Quake and Quake II, under the GNU GPL for others to use free of charge (bound by the GPL license restrictions).

USS Idaho was named in honor of this state.
History
On March 4, 1863, President Abraham Lincoln signed an act creating Idaho Territory. Idaho was visited by Lewis and Clark in 1805. At that time, approximately 8,000 Native Americans lived in the region. Originally part of Oregon and Washington territories, fur trading and missionary work attracted the first settlers to the region. While thousands passed through Idaho during the California gold rush of 1849, few people settled there. When organized as a territory in 1863, the total population was under 17,000.The political stability of the territorial period encouraged settlement. Almost immediately, a public school system was created, stage coach lines were established and a newspaper, the Idaho Statesman, began publication. In 1865, Boise replaced Lewiston as capital. The 1866 discovery of gold in Idaho and the completion of the transcontinental railway in 1869 brought many new people to the territory, including Chinese laborers who came to work the mines. When President Benjamin Harrison signed the law admitting Idaho as a U.S. state on July 3, 1890, the population was 88,548. Interestingly, the state still operates under its original (1889) state constitution.
As Idaho approached statehood, mining and other extractive industries became increasingly important to her economy. By the 1890s, for example, Idaho exported more lead than any other state. Although Idaho's dependence on mining has decreased, the state remains a top producer of silver and lead. Today, Idaho's industrial economy is growing, as plants are built to process the state's rich agricultural and natural resources. [1]
Law and government
The current constitution of Idaho provides for 3 branches of government, the executive, legislative and judicial branches. The legislative body consists of the Senate and the House. The Governor of Idaho is Dirk Kempthome (Republican) and the U.S. Senators are Larry E. Craig (Republican) and Mike Crapo (Republican).

The industrial output is food processing, lumber and wood products, machinery, chemical products, paper products, silver and other mining, and tourism.

An identity function f is a function which doesn't have any effect: it always returns the same value that was used as its argument.Formally, if M is a set, we define the identity function idM on M to be that function with domain and codomain M which satisfies
If f : M → N is any function, then we have f o idM = f = idN o f. In particular, idM is the identity element of the monoid of all functions from M to M.
- idM(x) = x for all elements x in M.
When choosing M equal to the positive integers, one obtains the identity function Id(n), which is a multiplicative function considered in number theory.
