Census | A term used in the 1980 census for an area encompassing the former American Indian reservations that had legally established boundaries during the period 1900 through 1907, but were dissolved during the 2- to 3-year period preceding the establishment of Oklahoma as a state in 1907. It excluded territory within urbanized areas delineated for the 1980 census. The 1980 census tabulated data for this entity, which was replaced for the 1990 census by tribal jurisdiction statistical areas. See Oklahoma tribal statistical area. (references) |
