GENERAL ARRANGEMENT TO BORROW

Specialty Definition: GENERAL ARRANGEMENT TO BORROW

DomainDefinition

Finance

The arrangement set up in 1962 involving the members of the group of ten and Switzerland, then not a G-10 member, under which the countries concerned agreed to provide special credits to the IMF in their own currencies for G-10 member countries. The GAB needs the collective agreement of its members to be activated. The credits are separate from the IMF's normal resources and are only for use by a GAB member facing currency or payments difficulties. Source: European Union. (references)
