Downing is a city located in Schuyler County, Missouri. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 396.

Geography


Downing is located at 40°29'16" North, 92°22'5" West (40.487682, -92.368022)1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.7 km² (0.7 mi²). 1.7 km² (0.7 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics


As of the census of 2000, there are 396 people, 176 households, and 99 families residing in the city. The population density is 228.2/km² (595.4/mi²). There are 210 housing units at an average density of 121.0/km² (315.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 95.96% White, 0.00% African American, 0.25% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 1.26% from other races, and 2.53% from two or more races. 2.27% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 176 households out of which 26.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.3% are married couples living together, 6.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 43.2% are non-families. 39.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 21.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.25 and the average family size is 3.03. In the city the population is spread out with 25.8% under the age of 18, 7.8% from 18 to 24, 24.2% from 25 to 44, 21.5% from 45 to 64, and 20.7% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 38 years. For every 100 females there are 80.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 79.3 males. The median income for a household in the city is $18,864, and the median income for a family is $26,875. Males have a median income of $25,000 versus $13,750 for females. The per capita income for the city is $12,626. 18.9% of the population and 19.8% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 19.5% are under the age of 18 and 19.0% are 65 or older.

Downing is a village located in Dunn County, Wisconsin. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 257.

Geography


Downing is located at 45°2'48" North, 92°7'43" West (45.046676, -92.128496)1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 7.7 km² (3.0 mi²). 7.7 km² (3.0 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics


As of the census of 2000, there are 257 people, 98 households, and 69 families residing in the village. The population density is 33.4/km² (86.4/mi²). There are 107 housing units at an average density of 13.9/km² (36.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 98.44% White, 0.00% African American, 0.39% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 1.17% from two or more races. 1.17% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 98 households out of which 30.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.2% are married couples living together, 5.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 28.6% are non-families. 19.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.62 and the average family size is 3.04. In the village the population is spread out with 25.3% under the age of 18, 10.5% from 18 to 24, 29.2% from 25 to 44, 23.0% from 45 to 64, and 12.1% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 35 years. For every 100 females there are 117.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 128.6 males. The median income for a household in the village is $41,375, and the median income for a family is $40,375. Males have a median income of $27,500 versus $20,625 for females. The per capita income for the village is $17,927. 5.7% of the population and 8.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 6.5% are under the age of 18 and 16.3% are 65 or older.
