In Celtic mythology, Danu was a mother goddess and wife of Beli. With him, she was the mother of the Dagda, Dian Cecht, Lir, Lugh, Gwydion, Govannnon, Arianrhod, Gilfaethwy and Amaethon. By Dagda, she was the mother of Ogma. She was the matriarch of the Tuatha de Danaan.
