Occupations

Supervises and coordinates activities of crew aboard dredge (vessel equipped with machinery to excavate under water) used in building of structures in harbors, estuaries, straits, sounds, rivers, lakes, bays, and oceans: Examines dredging gear and lifesaving equipment, and orders crew to repair or replace defective gear and equipment. Stands watch during specified periods, and determines geographical position of ship, upon request of DREDGE CAPTAIN (water trans.), using loran and azimuths of celestial bodies. Directs activities of crew engaged in dredging operations. Assumes command of ship in event DREDGE CAPTAIN (water trans.) becomes incapacitated. Worker required to hold license issued by U.S. Coast Guard. (references)
