Medicine | Group of viruses that is a common source of infection in kids. It is transmitted primarily by touch. The most common symptoms children experience are simply fever, feeling run down, and a rash. Others get what is called herpangina. This is when the virus causes some ulcers in the back of the throat. This usually benign virus can cause more serious complications involving the heart. The lining around the heart (the pericardium) may get inflamed causing fluid to collect around the heart.
