(From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia)
A biopsy is a medical test involving the removal of cells or tissuess for examination under a microscope.
When only a sample of tissue is removed, the procedure is called an incisional biopsy or core biopsy. When an entire lump or suspicious area is removed, the procedure is called an excisional biopsy. When a sample of tissue or fluid is removed with a needle, the procedure is called a needle biopsy or fine-needle aspiration.

She was treated with tumor infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) transduced with the gene for tumor necrosis factor (TNF). Pretreatment biopsy shows multiple live melanoma cells with little lymphoid infiltrate. Following treatment with TNF gene modified TILs plus interleukin-2, a biopsy of another lesion showed massive coagulative necrosis of the tumor with no viable tumor seen. This is a typical picture seen in experimental animals treated with tumor necrosis factor.
